Sidney Crosby's first power play goal of the playoffs helps lead the Penguins to a 4-2 win over the Flyers and a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference playoffs Crosby now has 4g, 13a, +3 with 1 power play goal and 8 power play assists and has scored goals in both games against the Flyers.  Pittsburgh scored two power play goals today, the first ones of this series.  The Penguins also have 4 even strength goals, 1 short handed goal and one empty net goal.  The Flyers won't be able to beat the Penguins if the Penguins' offense continues to click.

Johan Franzen was scratched from Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals and will miss Game 3 as well with concussion-like symptoms.  Franzen, with an incredible 10g, 1a, +7, 24 SOG, 5 power play goals, 2 short handed goals and 2 game winners in the last five games, was scratched from Game 2 and is ruled out for Game 3 on Monday with concussion-like symptoms.  He has had recurring headaches since the Avalanche series according to AP and ESPN.  This is obviously a major hit to the Detroit's offense, but the Wings always seem to find someone else to help out, as evidenced by rookie Darren Helm's first career goal five minutes into the first period of Game 2.  Daniel Cleary, with only 2 post season points, took Franzen's spot on the second line. 

Henrik Zetterberg's first period power play goal proves to be the game winner as Detroit beats Dallas to take a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference Finals Zetterberg, in his last six games, has 6g, 5a, +6, along with 38 SOG, 3 power play goals, 2 power play assists and 2 short handed assists.  Overall in 12 games, he has 8g, 7a, +10, 68 SOG, with 3 power play goals, 3 power play assists and 3 short handed assists.  Zetterberg has been even more dangerous in the post season compared to the regular season. Detroit outshot Dallas 34 -18, outhit Dallas 39-26 and beat the Stars on face offs 39-16. 

According to the Toronto Star, Jason Blake says that he isn't sure if he'll be back with the Leafs next season, and he wouldn't mind being traded by the Leafs. "There has to be change. They have to start rebuilding," said Blake. When asked if he would be bothered by a trade, the Masterton Trophy nominee said, " Oh no, not at all, if that's the route."  The Leafs organization is a complete mess right now, with only an interim GM in Cliff Fletcher and no coach. The team has few prospects in its system along with many big contracts with no-trade clauses. Blake, who has four years left on his contract, scored 52 points despite battling a rare form of cancer. A move out of Toronto could mean he could add to the 15 goals that he scored last season, so keep an eye on his situation.

Evgeni Malkin scored 2 goals and added 1 assist with a +3 in the Penguins' 4-2 win over Philadelphia in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Friday. Malkin's second goal was a shorthanded goal. On the play, he was hit into the boards in the Philadelphia zone by Mike Richards, and was slow to get up. When he got up, he took a breakaway pass from Sergei Gonchar and fired a slapshot past Martin Biron. Malkin has now taken the lead in playoff scoring with 17 points (8g-9a) in just 10 playoff games. The second-year superstar has to be considered a strong favorite for the Conn Smythe Trophy if the Pens can win it all.

Mike Richards scored both Flyers' goals in the first period of the team's 4-2 loss to Pittsburgh in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Friday. The red hot R.J. Umberger assisted on both of Richards' goals. Richards has paid off for those who invested in him in playoff pools with 13 points (6g-7a) in 13 games. He led the Flyers in scoring this season with 75 points (28g-47a) in 73 games, so he is currently a point-per-game player.

According to the Washington Post through tsn.ca, Olaf Kolzig will not return to the Washington Capitals next season. Kolzig was phased out of the starting job after Cristobal Huet was acquired from Montreal at the trade deadline. There is no guarantee that Huet will sign with the Caps in the offseason, but Kolzig, the long-time Caps goalie, would have preferred to go out as the starter. Since Kolzig would like to continue playing, expect him to land somewhere next season as a backup, which will limit his fantasy value.
